Formulas and rules to know

  • Probability = favorable outcomes / total outcomes; independent events multiply.
  • Mean, median, mode; range; basic reading of charts.
  • Sets: union (or), intersection (and), complement; Venn diagrams.
  • Percent change = (new - old) / old x 100.

Logic and geometry

  • Logic: 'if p then q,' its converse, inverse, and contrapositive.
  • Geometry: area of rectangle (l x w), triangle (1/2 b h), circle (pi r^2).
  • Simple/compound interest for the financial-math items.
