14-Day CLEP Study Plan That Actually Works

Most students overthink CLEP prep. You don't need months — you need a focused plan and the discipline to follow it for 14 days.

Who This Plan is For

This plan works best if you:

  • Have some background in the subject (took a class, read about it, or have work experience)
  • Can dedicate 45-60 minutes per day
  • Want to pass, not ace — CLEP passing scores are typically 50/80

Week 1: Learn and Practice

Days 1-2: Diagnostic + Foundation Take a diagnostic test first. This tells you which units you can skip and where to focus. Most students discover they already know 30-40% of the material.

Days 3-5: Unit-by-Unit Practice Work through one unit per day. For each unit:

  1. Read the key concepts (15 min)
  2. Answer 15-20 practice questions (20 min)
  3. Review every wrong answer — this is where real learning happens (10 min)

Days 6-7: Review Week 1 Go back to topics you got wrong. Don't re-study what you already know — that's wasted time.

Week 2: Sharpen and Test

Days 8-9: Targeted Practice Focus exclusively on your weakest 2-3 topics. Use Sage to explain concepts you're struggling with.

Day 10: First Mock Exam Take a full timed mock exam. Don't worry about your score — pay attention to which question types trip you up.

Days 11-12: Fix Weak Spots Based on your mock results, drill the specific topics that cost you points.

Day 13: Final Mock Take another mock exam. You should see improvement. If you're scoring 60%+, you're ready.

Day 14: Light Review + Rest Quick 20-question quiz in the morning. Then rest. Cramming the night before doesn't help.

Key Tips

  • Don't over-study what you know. If you're hitting 70%+ on a unit, move on.
  • Wrong answers are your best teacher. Spend more time reviewing mistakes than reading new material.
  • Use pass probability. PrepLion tells you your chances of passing — trust it.
  • CLEP has no guessing penalty. Answer every question, even if you're unsure.
